The paint was barely dry when Mrs. Barbara Bush called me with a simple but unforgettable request: "Can you turn that into a ladies' scarf?" Let's rewind a bit. A few months earlier, President George H.W. Bush had commissioned me to paint the George Bush Presidential Library in Bryan-College Station to commemorate its 20th anniversary. After its completion, the piece was installed in the museum-and shortly after, I received a new request. Each year, the Bushes hosted a fundraising gala known as the Vintner's Dinner. For that special occasion, Mrs. Bush asked me to create 500 silk scarves, featuring the library painting, as gifts for the evening's guests. And just like that, I became an official scart maker. But I didn't want to outsource it. I wanted to learn the craft, hands-on. So, in my Houston studio in the historic Heights neighborhood, l began creating fine art scarves-made with care, printed on luxurious silk, and infused with the same emotion and color as my paintings. Today, I offer over a dozen signature scarf designs featuring original artwork-each one telling a story, each one wearable art. And don't worry, gentlemen— there's something for you too. I proudly create men's pocket squares to bring a bold, artistic touch to any suit. From my studio to your wardrobe-this is art you can live in.
